Kha'Zix:
Primary: Assasin
Secondary: Fighter
There is something that has been bugging (heh) me for quite a while. Kha players have been evolving their w. Why? I've asked several of such Kha players. These were their rough reasons for doing so:
-More AOE
-Farming jungle
-More damage
-Extra slow
Before I delve into this I just want to note one thing: If you really need someone to be tanky, or if you're getting rofled by someone or everyone on their team, then please, by all means, evolve your spikes. It gives Kha better peel for his team and in this case, that's more important then instajibbing people.
Now, only one of these answers is even considerable as a reason for evolving. The extra slow. This slow is increased from 20% to 50%, which is very considerable. HOWEVER. Think about this: If you evolve your jump and ult instead, you have more than enough gap closing potential to make up for the loss of slow power. Evolved jump and ult have much more utility potential than evolved Spike Racks. Your jump range will increase to 900 (the same as a trist jump) and will then reset upon kill or assist (again, the same as a trist jump). However, in my opinion it is better than a trist jump because it feels much smoother. It also suits Kha's role very very well, giving him incredible mobility and the capability to perform in-and-out assasinations of squishies. And evolving your ult, well hell you just went from 2 casts to 3 casts and increased the duration of each of those casts. Cmon now! What could be better for a squishy caster assasin? (The reason I haven't mentioned evolving his q is because that's mandatory as a first or second evolve, if you play Kha and don't evolve his q then you may want to take a time out and sit down and think about your life choices)
The stupidest reason of these is for more damage. There really isn't much to say here except IT DOESN'T ADD MORE DAMAGE WHEN YOU EVOLVE IT. :/ Read the wiki first yo.
Evolving for the sake of jungle farming is quite silly. Really the only thing it does help with is that it has the capability of hitting more targets. You would think that this would be better for jungling because it allows him to do AOE damage to the annoying creeps that aren't already isolated. THIS IS WRONG. Killing the smaller creeps first and then using your isolate passive on the big one will clear the camp just as fast if not faster than an evolved w. And even IF it was faster, it still wouldn't be worth evolving. Which brings me to the reason of extra AOE for fighting. Which, first of all, isn't that reliable AOE, and second, can't stack. In other words if you run up to someone and blast all three of those spikes into their face they get the same amount of damage and slow as if it was just one spike. It might actually be impossible to get hit by more than one spike, I dunno I haven't tested it. Wanna know why? Cause I don't evolve his spikes!! As long as you can aim well enough to hit a skillshot, you'll be fine leaving your w un-evolved. You might not even have to be good enough to hit that skillshot if you evolve everything else anyway.
On a side note, if you're thinking "but Kha's w has great scaling and base damage, so naturally you should evolve it" I'll say this again: Evolving it adds nothing of use but a stronger slow, which is more than made up for when evolving his jump and ult.
To sum up, when you play Kha as an assasin (which you should probably always do unless you're getting stomped or you really need someone chunky), then please, PLEASE don't evolve your w. Evolve the stuff that will give you more damage and mobility. Not the thing that would allow you to hit more than one target (and that's harder to do than it looks). To play as an assasin means that you want to be able to kill at least one person really really really fast. Evolved spike racks are a hinderance to this goal in comparison to an evolved q, e, and r.
